Senior Civil Engineer
Job Summary
Dennis Group Civil Engineers support the planning, design, and construction of land development and infrastructure for industrial food and beverage processing facilities. This role focuses on site design from the foundation down, including grading, drainage, utilities, and paving. Civil Engineers are part of the Building Systems group and work closely with structural engineers, architects, and designers across multiple project locations. The position requires strong technical expertise, sound judgment, and excellent communication skills. A Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and analyze site civil systems, including grading, drainage, utilities, paving, and stormwater management for industrial and commercial facilities
- Prepare land development plans, engineering calculations, specifications, and CAD drawings (AutoCAD/Civil 3D)
- Develop site-based design documents and parking layouts compliant with local ordinances
- Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, including watershed delineation, runoff calculations, detention pond, and outlet structure design
- Advance site grading and drainage design using Civil 3D
- Review historical site drawings and evaluate existing conditions and design constraints
- Coordinate with internal disciplines and external consultants to support project delivery
- Support procurement activities, including bidder list development, contractor outreach, bid tabulation, and preliminary evaluations
- Provide construction administration services, including submittal review, RFI responses, and site visits
- Serve as the primary civil technical lead for small to mid-sized projects
- Mentor and support the development of junior engineering staff as directed
Required Education, Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required
- 7+ years of experience in civil engineering for industrial or commercial construction projects
- 7+ years of experience in site grading, drainage, and utility design
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D
- Ability to travel up to 25% annually to project sites and offices

- Prolonged periods of sitting and computer use
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds as needed
